The Series 800 multi-purpose flameproof enclosure is designed for coal mining applications and can be used in any country that accepts International Certifications.
It can be installed in a range of hazardous area applications including auxiliary fans, pump stations and machine electrics.
Replacing the Series 015, which are widely used throughout the mining industry for the control and protection of flameproof motors, the Series 800 enclosure offers the advantage of being compact in physical size, while being spacious internally, allowing for easy access to components within the enclosure.
The enclosure can be manufactured in a horizontal or vertical position and fitted with an optional o-ring giving it an IP66 rating. The enclosure can also be custom manufactured with a number of options to suit all requirements including push buttons, operators, windows, threaded and spigot entries, receptacle and adaptor configurations.
The enclosure is fabricated with two separate compartments, an Isolator Compartment and the Main Compartment. The Isolator Compartment is the smaller of the two compartments and is located at the top of the enclosure, housing the Main Circuit Breaker, a phase condition & rotation unit and a limit switch which is set up to open the incoming pilot circuit should the isolator cover be removed.
The Main Compartment is the larger of the two compartments and is located at the bottom of the enclosure, which houses equipment for the protection and control of the motor. This compartment is mechanically interlocked with the main circuit breaker and is penetrated by the main circuit breaker’s rack and pinion interlock. When the main circuit breaker is on, the rack travels through a striker on the main compartment door preventing it from being opened whilst power is on within the compartment.
